Parshat Tazria dicusses various types of "tumah". What practical difference does it make if someone becomes "tamey" (spiritually unclean)? Is these laws are not applicable today, when were they? 2. Using the parallel between the Mishkan and Ma'amad Har Sinai, what is parallel at Har Sinai to the laws of "tumah"? 3. In relation to "tumah", where do we find cycles of 'seven'? In relation to "tahara" (cleansing) of "tumah", where do we find cycles of 'seven'? Can you explain why? 4. Where else do we find cycles of 'seven' in Chumash, in the Jewish calander, in Halacha? Can you explain why? 5. At the beginning of Parshat Tazria we also find a cycle of 40. Where else in Tanach do we find 40 as a significant digit? 5. The questions in Part II are also appropriate for 'shabbos table' discussion. [See below.] PART II - Preparation for the weekly shiur [SIGNIFICANT DIGITS] 1. Where is the first time in Chumash that the number 'seven' becomes significant? What is its significance in that perek? 2. Where is the first time in the Torah that the number 'eight' is signfiicant? Can you relate this to your answer to #1 and the theme of Sefer Breishit? [Note Hashem's Name in each perek.] 3. Where else in Chumash do we find a cycle of 'seven' followed by something on the 'eighth day'? Can you suggest a thematic connection between them? 4. Do we ever find a cycle of 'seven' weeks? seven years? Are these cycles 'followed' by something special? [In case you didn't find any sources, try Breishit chapters 1 & 17 and Vayikra chapter 8,9,23 & 25.]
